Election Information Election InformationAre you interested in serving the community? More than 100 positions will be up for election. Residents will vote for six members on the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Community Association and two members of the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Association. Numerous Village Association offices and members of the Residential Design Review Committee will also be on the 2009 ballots, as indicated below. Are you interested in running for office?Filing for all of these positions begins Wednesday, December 31, 2008, and ends Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 5 p.m., for the 2009 election. No forms will be accepted after the 5 p.m. deadline! During the filing period, filing forms may be obtained at the Community Associations Building at 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from village association presidents, or online at http://www.thewoodlandsassociations.org/. Filing is open to residents and property owners in The Woodlands, ages 18 and over. Some positions require residency and/or property ownership in specific villages and interested individuals should refer to the appropriate Association bylaws and covenants for eligibility requirements. Plan to vote!Residents and property owners may take advantage of convenience voting from Monday, February 9, through Friday, February 20, 2009, at the Community Associations Building. Convenience voting hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., Tuesday and Thursday, from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Election Day is Saturday, February 21, and polling locations in each village will be open from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Annual Certification of Dwelling Units and Offices up for ElectionThe Woodlands Community Association*As of September 30, 2008, there were 17,517 occupied dwelling units in The Woodlands Community Association. Based on this number, The Woodlands Community Association Bylaws and Covenants state that there shall be a total of 13 positions on the Board of Directors: 12 Class A Directors (elected by residents and property owners) and one Class B Director (appointed by The Woodlands Development Company). In 2009, six Class A Director positions of The Woodlands Community Association shall be elected by residents and property owners. The positions are as follows:• One Director position representing the Village of Panther Creek: Position #2• One Director position representing the Village of Grogan’s Mill: Position #9• One Director position representing the Village of Cochran’s Crossing: Position #11• One Director position representing the Village of Indian Springs: Position #12• Two Director positions representing The Woodlands Community Association At Large: Positions #5 and #14 The Woodlands Association*As of September 30, 2008, there were 15,084 occupied dwelling units in The Woodlands Association. Creekside Park residents will elect a slate of representatives to serve as the founding members of the Residential Design Review Committee. All VillagesUp to five Residential Design Review Committee members to be elected for each village, all serving one-year terms. This includes two committees for villages such as Indian Springs and Grogan’s Mill that are served by both Associations. New this year will be a review committee for the Village of Creekside Park. * The process of transferring the authority of the Association to the Woodlands Township has begun. It is anticipated that the official transfer will take place on January 1, 2010. As a consequence, it is possible that the directors who will be seated at the next annual meeting of the Association may not serve their entire term. Alternatively, depending upon the timing of the completion of the transfer of authority to the Woodlands Township, it is possible that the directors may have diminished responsibility after the transfer of authority to the Woodlands Township is accomplished.
